UK-Nepal Relations: Flood Relief, Gurkha Legacy, and Bilateral Cooperation
The United Kingdom and Nepal share a deep-rooted partnership, underscored by recent events that have brought the two nations closer. In August 2026, catastrophic flash floods, triggered by a glacial lake outburst in Tibet, devastated Nepal, causing extensive damage to homes, roads, bridges, and hydropower facilities. The death toll surpassed 600, with over 2,400 people missing. Among the missing were at least 33 UK residents, including a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy.
