Panettiere, 36, died in South Carolina on August 16, and authorities have said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death remains open. Klitschko, 50, is seeking appointment as temporary guardian of Kaya’s estate, arguing the move is “urgent and essential” to prevent her mother’s property from being lost, damaged, or dissipated before a permanent representative is selected.

According to court documents, Klitschko wants to be named temporary guardian so he “may receive, manage and hold” Kaya’s assets on her behalf.
