Kwanza Jones Brings SUPERCHARGED® Empowerment and The Apollo’s Legacy to Communities Across the U.S.
Kwanza Jones, a cultural architect and founder of the national arts and empowerment Roadshow, is making headlines in United States news with her groundbreaking initiative, Culture In Motion™. This dynamic program brings The Apollo Theater’s storied legacy into Northeast communities, combining arts programming with strategic philanthropy to invest in artists, strengthen cultural organizations, and expand community opportunity. By merging the iconic institution’s rich history with contemporary empowerment experiences, Jones is redefining how cultural heritage can inspire and uplift diverse audiences.
The SUPERCHARGED® Boost Bus™ has already ignited the Midwest, celebrating Black cultural excellence and creating new opportunities for artists, storytellers, and communities. As Jones puts it, “As we make this come to life and reimagine what The Apollo experience will look like for the world, I’m excited that this will live on beyond the reopening of the Historic Apollo Mainstage.” The tour is set to officially kick off its cross-country journey in Los Angeles during Grammy Week, with stops in vibrant cultural hubs across California, including Los Angeles, Long Beach, Inglewood, San Diego, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento. From there, the multi-city tour will travel to major cultural centers, campuses, and community venues across the United States, including Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C.
In a notable intersection of sports and culture, Kwanza Jones was recently introduced to San Diego alongside José E. Feliciano, as the new owners of the Padres. The introduction took place at a press conference where Padres president Erik Greupner highlighted their involvement, noting that they were set up on the Traject pitching machine, which offers a computer simulation of Major League pitchers. Their ownership bid was approved unanimously by the 30 Major League Baseball owners. Greupner emphasized his continued role as team president, at least into the 2030s, ensuring stability as the new owners bring their unique vision to the franchise.
