Georgia Football Remains No. 1 in AP Poll After Dominant Win Over Oklahoma

ATHENS — Georgia football continues its reign atop the AP Poll Top 25, holding steady at No. 1 for Week 5 after a commanding 41-13 victory over Oklahoma last Saturday at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs have now won their first four games by an average margin of 34 points, solidifying their status as the team to beat in college football.

Head coach Kirby Smart, ever the perfectionist, still found areas for improvement despite the blowout. “We played better, but come on, there’s always room to grow,” Smart said postgame. “Our guys executed at a high level, but we left some plays on the field.” The win marked Georgia’s 15th consecutive home victory and further extended their SEC dominance. Quarterback play has been stellar, and the defense has allowed just 13 points per game, ranking among the nation’s best.

Next up, the Bulldogs host Vanderbilt on Oct. 3 at 12:45 PM ET (SEC Network) before a highly anticipated road trip to Alabama on Oct. 10. That clash could be a preview of the SEC Championship Game. Georgia’s schedule also includes tough tests against Auburn, Florida (neutral site), and Ole Miss. With a talented roster and championship pedigree, the Bulldogs are poised for another deep playoff run.

Despite their No. 1 ranking, some analysts argue Georgia is still underrated in early College Football Playoff projections. But with a 63-3 win over Tennessee State, a 70-20 rout of Western Kentucky, and a 45-17 road victory at Arkansas, the Bulldogs have left little doubt. As the season progresses, all eyes remain on Athens as Georgia chases another national title.
