Swiss motorists are feeling the pinch at the pump as fuel prices climb once again, with diesel experiencing a particularly sharp increase. According to the latest data from the Touring Club of Switzerland (TCS) price radar, which tracks around 3,200 petrol stations nationwide, the average price of diesel has jumped by 9% since the outbreak of the war in Iran. In contrast, petrol has seen a more modest rise, though still significant for consumers.
The TCS price radar, a tool based on user submissions, reveals that fuel prices in Switzerland rose by 1% in the latest update. This follows a trend of increasing costs, with diesel prices at the pump now up by 8.5% since the conflict began. The surge is attributed to global market instability and rising crude oil prices, which have been exacerbated by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
For Swiss drivers, the impact is tangible. Diesel, which is commonly used in many vehicles and for heating, has become noticeably more expensive, while petrol prices have also crept upward. The TCS data shows that the average price for petrol is now around $2.10 per liter, while diesel is slightly higher, reflecting the broader global trend where diesel demand has outstripped supply.
