Steelers Struggle in Week 2: Patriots Defense Dominates as Pittsburgh Falls 20-3

The lack of protection and inability to establish the run game stifled Pittsburgh’s offense, forcing Rodgers into hurried throws and limiting scoring opportunities. The offensive line’s struggles are a growing concern that could derail the season if not addressed.
The game’s few highlights for Pittsburgh included a 56-yard field goal by Chris Boswell for the team’s only points, and a 26-yard catch-and-run by Jaylen Warren that set up a prime scoring chance. However, the offense failed to capitalize, and rookie quarterback Will Howard, who saw action, threw an ugly interception to Bills safety Damar Hamlin in a later preseason context—though in this regular-season matchup, Rodgers was the primary signal-caller. Defensively, Patrick Queen intercepted a Drake Maye pass in the red zone, but the Steelers couldn’t convert the turnover into points.
Looking ahead, the Steelers must regroup quickly. The offensive line’s performance is under scrutiny, and Rodgers faces mounting pressure to elevate the unit.
