Singapore Airlines has announced a significant update to its Australian operations, with the Airbus A380 superjumbo remaining on the daily SQ237 and SQ228 flights between Singapore and Melbourne until at least March 2027. This decision reverses earlier plans to revert the route to a Boeing 777-300ER from late October, providing a major capacity boost on one of Australia’s busiest international corridors. The Fair Work umpire ruled against his reinstatement, partly due to his additional shifts with a competitor. Heston MRO’s CEO cited an ‘attitude issue’ and failure to follow protocols, leading to Singapore Airlines withdrawing his maintenance authority in November last year.
