Peugeot Australia Slashes Prices by Up to $14,718 Amid Distributor Transition

Post

Peugeot has announced significant price cuts across its entire Australian range, with savings ranging from $6,000 to $14,718. The move comes as the brand’s local distribution undergoes a transition, with current distributor Inchcape winding down its involvement. The most notable discount is on the 2008 GT Hybrid, which is now available for $39,990 driveaway, making it a highly competitive option in the compact SUV segment.

The price reductions apply to both passenger cars and commercial vans, including the Peugeot Partner and the E-Expert electric van. The E-Expert, in particular, is now positioned as one of Australia’s most affordable electric commercial vans, undercutting rivals like the Ford E-Transit. This aggressive pricing strategy is designed to clear existing stock as Inchcape prepares to hand over distribution responsibilities.

Despite the uncertainty, Stellantis, Peugeot’s global parent company, has reaffirmed its commitment to the Australian market. In a statement, Stellantis said, “We intend to maintain continuity of distribution in Australia and will provide updates as arrangements progress. We remain committed to our customers and partners throughout this period and are confident in the brand’s long-term prospects.” This reassurance comes after the exit of sister brand Citroen, which left Australia last year when Inchcape ended its distributorship.

Peugeot remains a strategically important global brand for Stellantis, being one of its four key marques alongside Jeep, Ram, and Fiat. While the transition may create short-term uncertainty, the significant price cuts offer a compelling opportunity for Australian buyers to secure a new Peugeot at a substantial discount. As Stellantis works to finalize a new distribution arrangement, customers can expect continued support and service throughout the change.
