Despite early resistance from Ireland, Australia’s class eventually shone through. The home side stormed to a three-goal lead in the opening quarter, with Zippy Fish, Tahlia Randall, and Kate Hore finding the net. However, Ireland responded with trademark handballing precision, as Blaithin Bogue and Neasa Dooley struck to keep the contest alive. The second quarter saw a pivotal shift, as Australia unleashed a burst of six consecutive goals, with Randall proving unstoppable.
