TulaDrone Director Arrested: Fraud Charges Could Lead to 9 Years in Prison
The director of Russia’s TulaDrone center for unmanned aircraft systems, Evgeny Grigoryev, has been arrested on suspicion of large-scale fraud, a case that could result in a prison sentence of three to nine years. Lawyer Mikhail Sazanov, a former FSB officer, told Izvestia that Grigoryev faces serious consequences if convicted. The arrest, which took place on August 14, was only publicly reported on August 25, and it is linked to alleged financial irregularities involving the ‘Composite Valley’ project.
According to local media and the Telegram channel Mash, the charges stem from suspected embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the ‘Composite Valley’ project, a major initiative that received substantial government backing. Grigoryev, who led the center that reportedly secured around 1 billion rubles in funding, is accused of orchestrating fraudulent schemes related to this financing.
