His family, in a heartfelt statement, expressed their shock at losing an “amazing father, partner, brother, uncle and son,” and noted that “the campaign of misinformation was too much” for him.
Arday’s career was marked by both achievement and controversy. His appointment at Cambridge was celebrated as a milestone, as he was one of the few Black professors in UK academia. According to recent statistics, only one per cent of professors in UK universities are Black, making each appointment highly significant. He consistently denied any wrongdoing, but the pressure of the allegations took a significant toll on his mental health and personal life.
