Paola Perego: A Candid Look at Her Life, Career, and the Challenges of Fame

Post

Italian television presenter Paola Perego has recently made headlines with a series of candid revelations about her personal and professional life. In a heartfelt interview with Il Corriere della Sera to mark her 60th birthday, Perego opened up about the struggles she has faced, including years of performing on TV under the influence of psychotropic drugs. She admitted, “Per anni sono andata in onda in tv sotto psicofarmaci” (For years I went on air under psychiatric medication), shedding light on the immense pressure and mental health challenges that come with a career in the spotlight.

Beyond her own battles, Perego also shared a troubling story about a colleague who attempted to seduce her husband. She revealed, “Ho provato ad aiutare un mia collega, ma lei ci ha provato con mio marito” (I tried to help a colleague, but she made a pass at my husband). This incident, along with her reflections on infidelity, led her to question the ethics of betrayal, asking, “Esiste un’etica per le corna?” (Is there an ethics for being cheated on?). These remarks have sparked widespread discussion, as Perego continues to be a prominent figure in Italian media.

In another interview, Perego discussed her relationship with her partner, revealing that they sleep in separate rooms. She also touched on traumatic experiences of stalking and playful “pranks” on her companion, while not holding back in her criticism of the Rai network. At 60, she embraces a newfound frankness, stating, “Il lusso di avere sessant’anni è anche poter dire con schiettezza che la famiglia non assomiglia a una favola sempre luminosa, ma la famiglia è una costruzione difficile, un po’ come l’amore” (The luxury of being sixty is also being able to say frankly that the family doesn’t resemble an always bright fairy tale, but the family is a difficult construction, a bit like love). She also admitted, “E io so essere insopportabile a volte”
