M25 Traffic Update: Overnight Roadworks and Closures to Impact Travel
As of Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at 21:30, motorists on the M25 are advised of multiple roadworks and closures scheduled overnight, which are set to cause significant disruption. The most critical closure is the M25 clockwise carriageway between Junction 4 and Junction 5, which will be fully closed from 22:00 tonight until 05:30 on Wednesday, 12 August, for repair work. This closure will require drivers to follow a diversion route, and delays are expected, especially for those heading towards the M23, M26, and Gatwick Airport.
Additionally, the M25 anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 9 and Junction 8 will also be closed overnight for roadworks, with a planned end time of 05:30. This closure will affect traffic heading towards the M23 and the south-west, and drivers are advised to allow extra journey time. Furthermore, the link road from the M4 J4B eastbound to the M25 J15 clockwise is currently closed due to roadworks, with an expected clear time of 05:30 on Wednesday. This closure impacts traffic from the M4 towards the M25 clockwise, and diversions are in place via the M4 westbound and the M25 anticlockwise.
In addition to these major closures, there are numerous lane closures and slip road restrictions planned across the M25, including at Junctions 3, 4, 6, 20, 24, 27, 28, and 30. These are scheduled to begin at 22:00 and last until early morning, affecting both clockwise and anticlockwise directions. For example, the M25 clockwise entry and exit slip roads at Junction 4 will be closed, as will the exit slip road at Junction 3. These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and improvement works, and while they may cause localized delays, they are essential for long-term road safety and efficiency.
