Now, Rockstar Games flips the script with a Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic set in a fictional, smuggler-ridden Florida, as revealed in the Autumn 2026 issue of Dazed magazine.
According to official Rockstar bios, Jason Duval is a lead character who grew up around grifters and crooks, served in the Army after a troubled youth, and now works for local drug runners in the Keys. His landlord, Brian Heder, is a classic Keys drug runner with a boat yard and a third wife, Lori. Lucia, the first female lead in a mainline GTA, is a genuine series landmark, though her full backstory remains under wraps. The pair’s chemistry is unmistakably inspired by the infamous criminal couple, promising a narrative rich with tension and partnership.
While the game’s release is slated for November 19, 2026, many details remain unconfirmed. Rockstar has not published a mission list, hour count, or final control scheme—leaving fans to wonder if you can ‘main’ only Lucia or if the duo will feature dynamic mechanics during missions. Reports of such features are still speculative, but the potential for switching between characters mid-mission could redefine GTA’s gameplay formula.
This shift to dual protagonists is a bold evolution for the franchise, offering fresh storytelling possibilities and deeper character development.
