One of the standout stories is the new charity partnership announced on 15 July 2026, aimed at supporting family holidays. Avanti West Coast is teaming up with a charity to transport families to holiday destinations across its network, ensuring that more families can enjoy a well-deserved break. This initiative underscores the company’s dedication to social responsibility and its role in connecting people with memorable experiences. In a lighter but equally notable event, on 3 August, Avanti West Coast staff, with help from Network Rail, safely rescued a trespassing tortoise from the railway tracks. The incident, dubbed ‘Slowcomotive,’ highlights the importance of safety and the quick thinking of railway personnel.
The human touch is also evident in the story of Bob Carpenter, a beloved Train Manager in his 80s, who continues to welcome customers onboard after nearly 35 years of service.
