Arson Arrest in Spokane Wildfires: Suspect Linked to Devastating Blaze
Authorities in Spokane, Washington, have arrested a 37-year-old man suspected of starting one of the destructive wildfires that have ravaged the region. The suspect, Aaron Farinacci, faces an arson charge in connection with the Old Trails Fire, which has burned thousands of acres and destroyed hundreds of homes. The arrest comes after major crimes detectives linked Farinacci to the blaze, with witnesses placing him at the origin of the fire. Farinacci’s criminal history includes a 2010 manslaughter conviction for shooting and killing his father in Mesa, Arizona, making this arrest particularly alarming for the community.
The wildfires around Spokane have left a trail of destruction, with neighborhoods showing blackened vehicles, a boat twisted by heat, and melted plastic recycling bins. In response, the city has set up a shelter at the main convention center, where about 400 people are currently staying, according to officials.
