In a gripping contest at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, the Baltimore Orioles edged out the Athletics 4-3 in a 10-inning battle on Friday night. The victory improved the Orioles’ record to 66-69, while the Athletics fell to 53-82. The game was a pitcher’s duel early on, with both teams struggling to score until the late innings, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
The Orioles’ offense finally broke through in the top of the 10th inning when Coby Mayo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand each delivered RBI singles, providing the decisive runs. Encarnacion-Strand also made a highlight-reel play in the fourth inning, snagging a line drive off the bat of Athletics’ third baseman Zack Gelof. The Athletics mounted a comeback attempt in the bottom of the 10th, scoring one run, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.
