Linda Perhacs Missing for Eight Months: Friends and Family Plead for Information
Linda Perhacs, the 82-year-old psychedelic folk artist best known for her cult classic album Parallelograms, has been missing for nearly eight months, prompting a desperate search by loved ones. According to reports, Perhacs was discharged from a residential care facility in November 2025 under the supervision of her guardian, but has since become unreachable. Her friend Mark McNeill took to Instagram on July 27 to ask for help, stating that friends and family have lost all contact with her.
Laurel Stearns, who managed Perhacs from 2013 to 2016 and worked on her 2014 sophomore album The Soul of All Natural Things, remains a close friend and is leading the search. In a phone interview with Pitchfork, Stearns emphasized, “The most important thing is that she’s safe and comfortable.” She urged anyone with information to contact her at lstearns@primarywave.com. Stearns added that the priority is ensuring Perhacs’ well-being, not public attention.
Perhacs’ disappearance has shocked the music community, which embraced her after the rediscovery of Parallelograms decades after its 1970 release. The album gained a new audience through word-of-mouth and reissues, leading to a career resurgence. However, her current whereabouts remain unknown, and the lack of updates has heightened concern among fans and friends alike.
As the search continues, Stearns and others are asking the public to remain vigilant. “The most important thing is to make sure that she’s safe and she’s comfortable,” Stearns reiterated.
