Israeli Strikes Kill at Least Eight Palestinians in Gaza, Including a Four-Year-Old Boy
Israeli strikes pounded Gaza on Sunday, killing at least eight Palestinians, including a four-year-old boy, as the IDF continues its constant violations of the US-backed ceasefire deal. The attacks come amid heightened tensions and a fragile truce that has been repeatedly tested by ongoing violence.
One Israeli strike near Khan Younis killed five police officers and wounded several others in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, according to hospital sources. The boy, identified as Zain Owais, was killed alongside his father, Mohammed, by an Israeli strike that hit a group of Palestinians west of Gaza City. At least one other person was killed in that strike. In total, more than 40 people had been injured, including a number of very critical cases, the ministry said.
A spokesman for the civil defence agency in the Palestinian territory told AFP that “at least eight martyrs as a result of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City at dawn,” with seven killed in strikes on residential buildings and one in the Al-Shati refugee camp to the west of Gaza City, said spokesman Mahmoud Bassal. The attacks also included drone strikes across the Gaza Strip, which killed at least eight Palestinians, including the four-year-old boy, according to hospital sources who spoke to Al Jazeera.
The violence has drawn international concern, with calls for restraint and adherence to the ceasefire agreement. However, the IDF has continued its operations, citing security needs. The strikes on Sunday are part of a pattern of ongoing violations that have undermined the US-backed ceasefire deal, raising fears of further escalation. Palestinians in Gaza continue to bear the brunt of the conflict, with civilians, including children, among the casualties. The international community has urged both sides to respect the truce and protect civilian lives, but the situation remains volatile as attacks persist.
