Holliday’s Four Hits Power Orioles Past Tigers in 8-5 Victory
The Baltimore Orioles snapped a nine-game drought without a multi-homer game in emphatic fashion on Monday night, defeating the Detroit Tigers 8-5 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Jackson Holliday led the charge with four hits, while the Orioles launched three home runs—two in the fifth inning and one in the sixth—to secure the win. The game, which lasted 2 hours and 43 minutes under 56-degree weather, saw Baltimore score in five of the first six innings, building an insurmountable lead.
Kyle Bradish started for the Orioles, while Keider Montero took the mound for the Tigers. The Orioles’ offensive explosion included a home run from Leody Taveras, who watched his fifth-inning blast sail over the fence. The Tigers attempted to rally, with Zach McKinstry, Hao-Yu Lee, Spencer Torkelson, and Matt Vierling each driving in runs via singles, sacrifice flies, and a triple from McKinstry. However, the Orioles’ early barrage proved too much to overcome.
The game also featured a quirky moment when a squirrel ran wild on the field in Detroit, briefly delaying play. Despite the Tigers’ efforts, including a double play induced by Montero to escape a jam, Baltimore’s consistent scoring and Holliday’s standout performance sealed the 8-5 victory.
