However, the judiciary is also facing a deepening crisis regarding its physical infrastructure. According to recent reports, federal courthouses across the country are in a state of disrepair, prompting the Judiciary to ask Congress for authority to directly manage properties essential to its constitutional mission. This request underscores the urgent need for modernization and maintenance to ensure that courts can operate safely and efficiently. The situation is so critical that the Judiciary has stated it will remain open and continue paid operations through a specified date, despite the challenges.
In addition to infrastructure issues, federal judges are increasingly targets of personal attacks. Chief Justice John Roberts recently condemned such criticism during an unusual forum, highlighting the rising threats against the judiciary.
