FBI Arrests Thomas Markle Sr. on Child Pornography Charges After Storage Unit Raids

Thomas Markle Sr., the estranged father of Meghan Markle, was arrested in Florida on Friday and charged with possession of child pornography, following FBI searches of two Los Angeles-area storage units containing suspected child sexual abuse material. The 82-year-old was taken into custody at his Maravida Senior Living care home in Lakeland, Florida, and is expected to appear in federal court Friday in Tampa. He faces one count of possession of child pornography.

According to sources, the arrest came after FBI agents swarmed the care home and escorted Markle, who is wheelchair-bound after having his leg amputated in the Philippines last year, out in handcuffs. Exclusive Daily Mail photos captured the moment. Markle remained silent when asked if he had ever collected child pornography. The former Hollywood lighting director’s arrest was first reported by the Daily Mail. The FBI searches of the storage units in Los Angeles uncovered suspected child sexual abuse material, and authorities also raided a storage space in Rosarito, Mexico, last weekend—just one day after the Daily Mail alerted the FBI to the find. This week, Major General Wilson Asueta of the Philippine National Police confirmed that Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material (CSEAM) was believed to be among the photos and computer files seized from the property.

In a statement, a spokesperson said, “My sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.” The case has drawn widespread attention due to Markle’s connection to the Duchess of Sussex. Authorities have not released further details about the evidence or potential additional charges. Markle is expected to make his initial appearance in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa.

The investigation remains ongoing, and federal officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. The priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children, authorities reiterated. As the legal process unfolds, the focus stays on ensuring justice is served and that such materials are removed from circulation.
