The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), in cooperation with the FDA and Coast Citrus Distributors, has issued the alert after epidemiological and traceback data linked the illnesses to contaminated products. The affected items, sold under several brand names, were distributed through major retailers, and federal agencies expect the list to grow as investigations continue.
The public health alert covers a variety of meat and poultry products that may contain a recalled ingredient. Some of these products have use-by dates extending through August 15, 2026, making it crucial for consumers to check both refrigerated and frozen foods at home. Coast Citrus Distributors has agreed to recall the remaining product implicated in the outbreak and is actively identifying and contacting affected customers.
