Perth Bears Land Penrith Half Jack Cole in Major Three-Year Signing
The Perth Bears have made another significant addition to their inaugural squad, securing the services of Penrith Panthers halfback Jack Cole on a three-year deal. The 23-year-old, who has played 18 first-grade games for the Panthers, will join the expansion club from the 2027 season. Cole’s signing underscores the Bears’ commitment to building a competitive roster as they prepare to enter the NRL.
Cole, a product of the Penrith system, has learned under one of the game’s best halves in Nathan Cleary. Despite limited opportunities behind Penrith’s established spine, he has shown enough promise to convince the Bears he can play a significant role in the club’s future. “We are recruiting players that know what it takes to win and, most important of all, believe in what we are creating over here in the West,” a club spokesperson said.
The Bears have been active in the player market, and Cole’s signing is seen as a key developmental acquisition. A seasoned Premiership winner, Cole brings experience and a winning mentality to the fledgling club. The Bears believe he can make the leap to NRL level and contribute immediately. “We’ll have a major role in having an impact on the nation,” the club added, highlighting their ambitions.
