In a stunning turn of events, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley stepped up when the Baltimore Ravens needed him most. With franchise star Lamar Jackson sidelined due to an ankle injury, Huntley made his first start of the season on Sunday and delivered a performance for the ages, leading the Ravens to a 30-23 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Huntley completed 24 of 32 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns while adding six carries for 20 yards and another score on the ground, totaling three touchdowns in the comeback win.

The game didn’t start smoothly for Huntley and the Ravens. In the first half, the offense struggled to find the end zone, managing only field goals and heading into the locker room trailing 14-9. Huntley failed to lead a touchdown drive in the opening two quarters, raising questions about whether the backup could keep Baltimore’s playoff hopes alive. However, the second half told a different story. The backup QB rebounded with poise, finding Derrick Henry for an 18-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to spark the offense. Then, with the game on the line, Huntley engineered a game-tying touchdown drive, culminating in a seven-yard strike to Devontez Walker with just 40 seconds left in regulation. The Ravens then converted a game-tying two-point conversion from Henry out of the wildcat formation, sending the game to overtime.

Huntley’s performance was a testament to his growth and readiness. He completed 80% of his passes, converted several key first downs through the air, and added 60 yards on eight rushing attempts—showcasing his dual-threat ability. The Ravens are on the field again, fighting to secure a playoff spot, and with Jackson out, Huntley is embracing the opportunity to lead the team toward what they hope will be a championship season. Before the season even began, Huntley shared some life-changing news: he and his partner, Camille Rogers, had a personal milestone to celebrate, adding a heartfelt layer to his journey.
