Hayden Panettiere’s Cause of Death Revealed: Fentanyl and Multiple Drugs Found in System as Investigation Continues
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has released the official cause of death for actress Hayden Panettiere, revealing a lethal combination of substances in her system. According to the coroner’s statement, Panettiere had fentanyl and its chemical byproduct 4-ANPP, the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam (Xanax), a muscle relaxer, and a drug used to treat major depression and other serious mental health disorders in her system at the time of her death. The official cause had remained pending for weeks, leaving fans and authorities awaiting answers.
The Greenville Police Department confirmed on Tuesday that its criminal investigation into Panettiere’s death remains active. The department is working in direct coordination with special agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to identify the origin of the illicit synthetic narcotics. An initial search of the premises uncovered multiple prescription pill containers with redacted patient labels, further complicating the probe. Authorities have not yet determined whether the fentanyl was knowingly ingested or accidentally mixed with other substances.
In response to the police report, a representative for Panettiere stated, “Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed.” The statement underscores the family’s request for privacy as the case unfolds. Meanwhile, Attorney General Todd Blanche issued a grim warning about the dangers of fentanyl-laced drugs, calling them “death pills” and vowing to go after those who distribute them. His comments came shortly after the coroner’s findings were made public.
The tragedy has also sparked political reactions, with some lawmakers using the case to push for harsher penalties for drug offenses. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the source of the fentanyl to come forward. The DEA’s involvement highlights the growing concern over synthetic opioids and their devastating impact, even among celebrities.
