Walmart Pasta Recalled Nationwide Over Listeria Contamination Fears

Post

Pasta sold at Walmart stores across the United States is being recalled due to possible contamination with listeria monocytogenes, a potentially deadly bacteria, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall affects two lots of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, a product distributed exclusively to Walmart locations nationwide. The pasta was manufactured by FreshRealm and supplied by Gias Foods of New York, which initiated the recall.

The FDA announced the recall in a notice posted on September 21, 2026, with an update on September 22. The agency warned that the affected lots could be contaminated with listeria, which can cause severe illness, especially in pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. In some cases, listeria infections can lead to a reasonable probability of death, as noted in the recall classification. The recall has been classified as a Class I recall, the most serious type, indicating a high risk to public health.

Consumers who have purchased the bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine are urged to check the lot numbers and not consume the product. The recalled pasta should be discarded immediately or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. Walmart has been instructed to remove the affected products from store shelves. As of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall, but the FDA is monitoring the situation closely.

This recall is part of a series of recent food safety alerts, including a separate recall of half a million soups, dips, and salsas that was also classified as highest risk level. Shoppers are advised to stay informed about ongoing recalls by checking the FDA’s website and signing up for alerts. For more information, consumers can contact Gias Foods or visit the FDA’s recall page.
